    Yumurta sayısı ve kalitesinden bahsedelim öncelikle. Yumurtalıklarda ergenlik çağında ortalama 300.000 tane yumurta vardır. Yıllar içinde bu yumurtaların sayısı azalır. İlk kaybedilenler en kaliteli yumurtalardır. Yani yumurta sayısı ile kalitesi paralel olarak düşer. Çikolata kisti dahil her tür yumurtalık ameliyatı, yumurta sayısında çok ciddi bir düşme ile sonuçlanır. Yumurta sayısında azalmayı tahmin etmemizi sağlayan bazı testler vardır. Ancak yumurta kalitesini tahmin etmek için tüpbebek yapıp yumurtaları almak gerekir. Yani yumurtayı mikroskop ile görmeden kalitesi anlaşılamaz. Kısa yoldan tüpbebek yapılması en iyisi olur.
