Genelde döşeyici epiteli yoktur, fokal skuamoz epitel adacığı ve komşuluğunda yabancı cisim reaksiyonu izlenmiştir. Aralarında Dikkati Çeken kahverenkli pigmentin bir kısmı Masson Fontana ile, bir kızmı da Prusya Mavisi ile boyandığından ortamda hem melanin hem de homosiderin olduğu anlaşılmaktadır, melanin varlığı da kistin döşeyici epitelinin skuamoz özellikte olduğuna ek kanıt olarak alınmıştır.
