    CMV, çok fazla belirti vermeden oluşan bir enfeksiyon hastalığıdır. Ancak gebelikte bebek için tehlikeli olabilir. Bu nedenle ciddiye alınması gerekir. Gebelik sırasında geçirildiği taktirde plasentadan geçerek bebekte enfeksiyon yapabilir. Bebeğin özellikle beyin, duyu organları, salgı bezlerinde kalıcı hasatlara neden olabilir. Bebeğin etkilenip etkilenmediğini netleştirmek her zaman mümkün olmayabilir. Bu nedenle gebelik sırasında geçirildiğini gösteren deliller varsa gebeliği sonlandırma kararı verilebilir. Şu an avidite testi sonucunu beklemek dışında yapılabilecek bir şey yok. Gebelik 10 haftadan küçükse test sonucunu beklemeksizin sonlandırma kararını siz de verebilirsiniz.
