    Plasentanın doğal ömrü 40 haftadır. Kırk haftanın sonunda plasenta kireçlenerek yaşlanır. Bazen plasenta erken yaşlanabilir. Bu tip bir durumda bebeğe geçen besin, su ve hatta oksijen sınırlanır. Oksijen geçişi azalmadan doğumu gerçekleştirmek gerekir. Bunun için ultrason, doppler ve NST ile kontrolleriniz yapılacak. Doktorunuz uygun bulduğunda doğum gerçekleştirilmelidir.
