    Rahim, gebelik sırasında şişmiş bir balon gibidir. Plasenta, bir tabak gibi balonun iç yüzünde bir yere dayanarak duran bir disktir. Bu dik rahimin bir yerine yerleşecek. Anterior, rahimin ön yüzünde yerleştiğini gösterir. Teknik olarak soruna neden olacak bir durum değildir. Eğer plasenta inferior veya diğer bir deyişle rahim ağzını kapatacak tarzda yerleşmiş ise buna plasenta previa denir ve tıbbi açıdan önem taşır.
